Testimony of Douglas O Mogendi

MY TESTIMONY:
I was brought up in Catholic denomination, had no Sunday schooling, except for very little religion lessons in Primary and High school.
I remember when I was 8 years old my Mum took me to see a Nun after Mass one Sunday, to give me a little bit of a lesson on First Holy Communion. Me, being very young and innocent - it all went over my head.
After completing form four in the year 2005 I started wondering what life was all about and its purpose and who would accept me the way I was. I came to seek about other religions. I asked Mum one day, about other churches.
Mum just said "The Catholic church is the only one church."
Then I thought to myself, 'I'm not going to get anywhere with Mum.'
The Lord knew I was seeking the truth about life.
So he brought Venica who is my wife and witnessed to me that I should be saved.
As we were on with courtship, she kept on saying we must have a big talk of salvation.
I was against it, for awhile but one day I asked her and she told me how we can have a close relationship with Jesus, and how He died on the cross for my sins. Also, that we can be forgiven of our sins and be saved; and have Eternal life.
I accepted Christ as my personal Savior from sin, on 10th August, 2007 and the same day, I followed the Lord in obedience to His example and went through the water Baptism.
The Lord has changed my life, he has helped me to grow up, given me knowledge of his Word the Bible, and what's going on around me and in the world; and people.
After all this I got opposition from my parents as to why am leaving the Catholic Church, they went as far as chasing me and my wife, not to take meals in the family as per the Kisii culture, so we went to our house and started making our own food, by now my dear Brothers and Sisters I don't own anything at home, only a house, but thank God because I have peace and I have seen them not attending catholic but calls me to pray for them, God is able. So I peg you to read this and pray for so that I can find favor before God as am serving Him, so that many may know Him, saved my parents and my two brother were against me and my wife because of this salvation, asking why we are leaving the Catholic denomination? They chased us a way and refused us not to take the meals, by faith I talked to my friend about this, he gave me food that lasted for 2 months, and firewood, we started making our own food in our house, praying God, since that time we are on serving God. Though we do not inherit land at home only a house, but we are thanking God because He will open us ways even getting our daily meals it is by the grace of God, sometimes we drink porridge or water and sleep, but we thank God for all. So I peg you to read this and uplift us in prayers so that we may find favor before God.
